FAQ
Does my insurance cover physiotherapy?

You will need to check with your insurance company to confirm that your plan includes physiotherapy coverage, but many plans do include physiotherapy. We are able to direct bill many insurance companies.

Do I need a referral for physiotherapy?

In Alberta you do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist. Some extended healthcare benefit plans require a physician's prescription for physiotherapy, check with your provider.

What should I wear to my physiotherapy appointment?

Please wear loose fitting clothes and/or bring shorts to your appointment. We do have gowns and shorts to be used as well. For gym or pool appointments you will have to wear comfortable althetic wear, shoes and pool outfits.

What should I expect during my first appointment?

Our assessment time is a minimum of 90 minutes. The first appointment you have will include a detailed history of your health concern. The physiotherapist will do a physical exam to collect objective measures to help understand your specific issue. We’ll discuss a treatment plan and develop treatment goals together, and begin treating that day.

Why don't you have a receptionist?

In order to offer the longer treatment and assessment times, we have eliminated this cost to our business model.  This allows us to expand the time we can dedicate to our clients. All payments, booking and billings can happen online and we have embraced this system.  Please note we also accept electronic transfer, cash and cheque as well.

When I book an appointment, I need to use a credit card. Is my information secure?

In order to book an appointment you will need to use your credit card.  We use the JANE system for online booking and payments. You can choose to use your credit card to pay any balance on your account. Your information is securing held in the JANE system, click here for more information about the JANE system security. If you do not have a credit card, please call us and we can arrange something for you.

How do I get a therapist to see me in a gym or pool?

Gym and pool physiotherapy directed training is a convenient option for anyone who would like to see a physiotherapist in the places where you work out and play. We offer exercise programs in one central gym in the city, and we have plans to expand our services soon. After assessment at our office, one of our therapists will meet you at the gym or pool to supervise and educate you about your exercise program. This is fairly unique service where the therapist is working in the community with you. We believe this is the best place for exercise training to occur. If you do not want to work out in a community gym, we can always provide you with a home exercise program to do yourself in the privacy of your own home.

Please note when working at a gym or pool, we do not provide personal training or bill personal training as physiotherapy. Rehabilitation goals and rehabilitation programs are necessary to qualify as physiotherapy.  If you require personal training please see a personal trainer.
